Teachers Lesson Plans
Many of Escher's prints attest his mastery of the laws of perspective. He also explored other, more complex ways of representing objects in space. Much of his popularity stems from his innovative research.
In Hand with Reflecting Sphere, Escher portrays himself reflected in a mirrored globe that reflects the entire room, except for the area that lies directly behind it. In Relativity, the artist matches three vanishing points to three different states of gravity. Here three worlds coexist without touching, each governed by its own gravitational laws.
