Build Me a Legend: Grade 4-6
Summary
This lesson presents 10 Inuit artists whose work reflects traditions that are thousands of years old and bears witness to a culture that is alive and well, and in full transition. Learning different Inuit stories, students will create a three-dimensional scene from a legend.
Theory:
Students will recognize that artists manipulate elements and principles of design to communicate an idea.
Creation:
Students will design an artwork to convey a message.
Analysis:
Students will demonstrate awareness that artworks are influenced by social, historical, and cultural contexts.
