Transformation: Grade K-3
Summary
This lesson presents 10 Inuit artists whose work reflects traditions that are thousands of years old and bears witness to a culture that is alive and well, and in full transition. Explore the notion of transformation and apply the elements and principles of design to the creation of a color-diffused butterfly.
Theory:
Students will learn to identify and recognize warm and cool colours, an element of design.
Creation:
Students will use a variety of techniques to create pattern, a principle of design.
Analysis:
Students will use grade-appropriate vocabulary and art terminology to describe how warm and cool colors are used to communicate feelings.
