Reinventing the World: Grade 9-12

Summary

The funny and delightful works of Guy Ben-Ner are reinventions of such classic novels as Daniel Defoe?s Robinson Crusoe (1719) in the installation titled Treehouse Kit (2005), and Herman Melville?s Moby Dick (1851) in the video of the same title (2000), with members of his own family doing the acting. In this course, the students will manipulate and organize elements and principles of design as they plan a work of art.

Theory:

In this course, students will manipulate and organize elements and principles of design as they plan a work of art.

Creation:

Students will create a three-dimensional work of art expressing their intentions by using a varied and appropriate selection of materials, tools, processes and technologies.

Analysis:

Students will communicate their ideas using an artistic vocabulary and appropriate terminology to refer to materials, processes and technologies.
