Artful Emotions: Grade K-3

Summary

Joe Fafard is a sculptor best known for creating objects, which pay homage to, and take inspiration from, his community, and farm life. He is equally well know for his intricate sculptures of individuals, be they artists, writers, theorists, politicians, strangers or friends. In this lesson students will explore how art communicates thoughts and feelings.

Theory:

Students will identify warm and cool colors, in an artwork.

Creation:

Students will produce a three-dimensional work of art that communicates thoughts or feelings, and explain their decisions in the art making process.

Analysis:

Students will explain, in a class discussion, how elements of design are used to communicate feelings and convey ideas.
