My Abstraction: Grade K-3

Summary

After showing students the works in the Canadian Painting in the Thirties lesson plan, especially the work of Lawren S. Harris, White Triangle, ask them to identify and select several geometric shapes. Students will then, using these shapes, create two abstract compositions, one using cool colours and the other using warm colours.

Theory:

Students will identify and recognize elements of design such as shapes and warm and cool colours.

Creation:

Students will produce a two dimensional work of art that communicates their idea of what is an abstraction.

Analysis:

Students will use grade appropriate vocabulary and art terminology.
