My Mask, My Voice: Grade 4-6
Summary
After exploring a selection of works from the NGC collection that focus on certain aspects of the social history of the African diaspora, students will create a three- dimensional mask and thereby contribute to the cultural landscape of this country.
Theory:
Students will describe how artists have used the elements of design such as colour, texture, and shape to communicate an idea or feeling
Creation:
Students will produce a three-dimensional mask focusing on facial expressions in order to communicate a range of thoughts, feelings, ideas and experiences about themselves.
Analysis:
Students will use grade appropriate art terminology and vocabulary.
