Experimenting with light : Grade 9-12

Summary

American artists from the 60?s and 70?s questioned the very nature of what art is and what it could be made of as well as the process of making it. To understand how different sources of light affect objects and their surrounding surfaces, students will experiment with light to create specific environments. The activity will reinforce the importance of light as an element in academic and contemporary works of art.

Theory:

Students will manipulate and organize elements of design, with a special focus on light.

Creation:

Students will produce three-dimensional works of art that express their intent, using a variety of different light sources.

Analysis:

Students will use appropriate art vocabulary and terminology related to materials, processes and technologies
