Peter Doig
Peter Doig was born in Edinburgh in 1959 and moved to Canada with his family the following year. He left Canada at the age of nineteen to attend art schools in London, including Wimbledon, St. Martin?s and Chelsea Schools of Art. He is an avid photographer who collects photographs by others to use as inspiration for his paintings. He was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1994, and is now one of Britain?s leading painters. Peter Doig specializes in landscapes which are mysterious and even sometimes vaguely threatening. They often recall the Canadian environment of his youth.
